Congresswoman Susan Davis will be hosting a service academy information night. Each year the Congresswoman has the privilege of nominating young men and women to attend U.S. service academies. This event will provide an opportunity for interested students to learn more about our service academies and receive assistance with completing their applications.
Students interested in attending one of our prestigious service academies will be able to hear from each institution. The U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy will have representatives at the event to answer questions. Representatives from our local ROTC Cadres will also be present.
High school seniors planning to apply to a service academy or join an ROTC program are encouraged to attend. This is a public event open to any high school students who have an interest in learning more about our Service Academies. Parents and siblings are also welcome. No RSVP is necessary
In San Diego there is a sense that veterans are everywhere around us, but have you ever had the chance to hear, firsthand, from someone who has served in a combat role? To hear how that has affected them and how they relate to their family, friends and community differently in some cases after those experiences?
If you would like this opportunity, please join me on Saturday for a Veterans Town Hall. The event is designed to allow members of the community who haven’t served in the military to gain a greater compassion and understanding for the reality of military combat and its effects.
Parking: Free in parking lots adjacent to the venue
Please note that seating will be limited, so please RSVP in advance at:
Also, if you are a veteran open to sharing your combat experience (during any conflict) at the event, please give my office a call at (619) 280-5353.
I understand how concerned all of you are by the challenges facing our country, and so I look forward to another opportunity to hear from you. It is my pleasure to hold another town hall meeting as we have been doing over the years.
NO RSVP needed. It will be first-come, first-served. Doors will open at 5:30pm.
The event will be livestreamed as well - you will be able to view it on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/RepSusanDavis/
I hope you can attend!

Congresswoman Susan Davis is extending an invitation to a special Veterans Day Town Hall this Veterans Day weekend in San Diego.
This event, inspired by author Sebastian Junger, is a community forum aiming to establish a greater understanding between local veterans and the friends and neighbors they fought for. In the tradition of warrior storytelling, veterans are invited to describe the pride, grief, rage, or quiet appreciation of life that the war bestowed upon them. Each veteran will be given up to 10 minutes to speak about what their service means to them through a story, summary of service, message, letter home, excerpt from a war journal, or even the story behind a photograph. The general public is invited to attend, to listen, and to learn.
The Town Hall will be held from 6:30pm-9:30pm on November 10 at the Balboa Park Club in Balboa Park (2144 Pan American Rd W, San Diego, Calif. 92101).
If you would like to attend, please RSVP at https://susandavis.house.gov/veterans-day-town-hall.
If you are a veteran and would like to speak, please call or email Susan’s district office at (619) 280-5353 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
For more information on the original idea for the event, please read Mr. Junger’s June 2015 article in Vanity Fair.
Please join me on March 18th for an open dialogue between federal government policy makers, the local technology industry and academia about the government’s growing demand for emerging technology. I am bringing GSA's Regional Administrator Andrew McMahon and San Diego State University's San Diego Regional Innovation Cluster together to identify areas where the tech industry can help government agencies meet their technology needs and how local companies in San Diego can participate.
I look forward to seeing you.!
Please join Susan and experts from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as they discuss the El Niño weather phenomenon and how our region may be affected. The informational session will include scientific background about what El Niño is and what to expect, how you and your family can be better prepared, and what the federal government’s role would be in the event our region was overwhelmed. We will also have various community partners providing valuable information on emergency response efforts in the county. The event will conclude with a Q&A session with the experts. Please RSVP.
