Congresswoman Susan Davis is extending an invitation to a special Veterans Day Town Hall this Veterans Day weekend in San Diego.

This event, inspired by author Sebastian Junger, is a community forum aiming to establish a greater understanding between local veterans and the friends and neighbors they fought for. In the tradition of warrior storytelling, veterans are invited to describe the pride, grief, rage, or quiet appreciation of life that the war bestowed upon them. Each veteran will be given up to 10 minutes to speak about what their service means to them through a story, summary of service, message, letter home, excerpt from a war journal, or even the story behind a photograph. The general public is invited to attend, to listen, and to learn.

The Town Hall will be held from 6:30pm-9:30pm on November 10 at the Balboa Park Club in Balboa Park (2144 Pan American Rd W, San Diego, Calif. 92101).

If you would like to attend, please RSVP at http://susandavis.house.gov/veterans-day-town-hall.

If you are a veteran and would like to speak, please call or email Susan’s district office at (619) 280-5353 or mark.zambon@mail.house.gov.

For more information on the original idea for the event, please read Mr. Junger’s June 2015 article in Vanity Fair.

Please join me on March 18th for an open dialogue between federal government policy makers, the local technology industry and academia about the government’s growing demand for emerging technology. I am bringing GSA's Regional Administrator Andrew McMahon and San Diego State University's San Diego Regional Innovation Cluster together to identify areas where the tech industry can help government agencies meet their technology needs and how local companies in San Diego can participate.

We will also have demo programs and experiments from GSA’s 18F digital services team and provide training on how to sell to, and buy from, the federal government. If you are the maker of innovative digital solutions and would like to do business with the federal government, a current GSA vendor, or a current GSA federal customer, we would love for you to join us. Please follow the link to RSVP and find more information: http://www.gsa.gov/portal/content/123302 or contact my office at (619)280-5353.
